Ektar 100 vs Lomography 100 – 35mm Film

Ektar 100 is often the go-to low ISO color negative film. It’s a very versatile professional grade film known for its fine grain and poppy saturated color, great for landscapes, portraiture, and pushes well. For an inexpensive alternative, consider Lomography 100. Below is an overview of how each compares on film grain, color and price.

The exposures do not seem to match. The most obvious example is in the photos of the car. The Lomo 100 pic looks to be about 1/2 stop darker. This allows it to capture detail in the highlights which are blown out with the Ektar shot.
If the scenes were given the same exposure, then that suggests that there is a difference in real ISO between Ektar and Lomo 100. This is also clearly seen in the images that have sky in them. They all are darker with the Lomo film.

If I were shooting film everyday I would probably choose the cheaper Lomo emulsion. But I do prefer the results with Ektar so will continue using it as my preferred outdoor landscape film

Your comparison of the sharpness with the crop-in on the motorcycles has nothing to do with the film and everything to do with the focus. The focus point is different for each photo. On the full-frame photo, you can read “Sport” on the gold part in the middle of the bike on the Lomo side and you can’t make it out on the Ektar side. You can even see the front tire is in focus for Ektar and out of focus for Lomo.
